first day of school

Math: Yay, Kristin and Anchal and Harini are in my class! But I'm also with a certain other person whose name I refuse to mention. We made Venn diagrams about things we have in common with random people in our class.

TA: My classroom got changed at the last minute, so I'm Lanthier's TA instead of Yen's. The sixth graders are super cute and stuff. All I did was holepunch paper and put stuff up in the windows and finish so early I could read. It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be.

PE: We sat around and listened to our teacher ramble about stuff like the honor code and technology agreement forms and whatnot. It was boring. Then we went to get our planners and I forgot my money.

Science: The teacher seemed a little strict about me reading in class. She just talked about herself for awhile, and how her daughter hated going to the school her mom taught at. The teacher gets annoying people in trouble, though. I like that.

SS: I like the teacher! And the person who sat next to me seemed pretty cool even though she's new to Miller! =D We watched a lot of videos and stuff like that, and went over expectations and the usual boringness.

French: Certain annoying people aren't in my class this year! Yay! Lots of people forgot everything they learned last year and it was really funny listening to them attempting to speak French. I was sitting in the back row and thinking "sigh this is so easy i read all this in the textbook last year."

LA: The teacher is awesome, partly because I already know her XD I sat next to Jenny and we drew unicorncats the whole period! (combinations of unicorns and cats ^_^) This is the only class we actually have HW in, but I finished half of it already.

this post makes no sense.

I couldn't post... I wasn't feeling well D: Stupid ear infections! And my piano theory homework is annoying me >.<
I'll probably be able to come to school though.

I'm chatting with Rhea right now and she said that if someone comes in your dream, they miss you. And because I had a creepy dream about her (which I don't remember now), I was all like "RHEAAAAA JUST ADMIT YOU MISS MEEEE ^_^" XD it was really random. Apparently, everyone from school misses me... but I don't think they actually do. I'm a very forgettable person! YAY FORGETTABLE PEOPLE! =)

And this is what our chat turned into:
me: meowmeowmeow
meowmeowmeow
meowmeow
meow
meowwwww
Rhea: did you eat sugar?
you're too hyper XD
me: NOOOOO
meowwwwwww
i'm a unicorn :D

My friends are random.

I just love the title of this amazing post! Don't you? Yay, this post has the best title ever =D
OK, now I'm just being strange. I'll stop. Why are my endings so awkward?

WEB orientation!

I had to wake up at 7. WHY SO EARLY D=

Anchal didn't bike there with me. She ditched so I just went to Miller by myself. At least I could bike as fast as I wanted...

We got there and stood around awkwardly for an hour, and then we cheered for the pixies when they came into the gym. Anchal and I grabbed Aishu and my sis and hugged them XD

My WEB group is pretty cool. Two people ditched the orientation, though. All the girls were really shy and sweet but the guys were all loud and annoying. How stereotypical.

The pixies were so short and adorable <3 Anchal was shorter than some of them but she wouldn't admit it XDAnd they had a gazillion questions for me... THEY WERE THE CUTEST THINGS EVER =D it's hard to believe I was that small and cute two years ago. I probably wasn't a very cute pixie, though....

I had Neha and Carolyn (my sis's friends) in my group =D and I also had this guy my sis doesn't like. I can see why they don't get along ;)

In general, orientation was very... hyper. The whole time, I had to act "loud and energetic" but as you know it's not really my nature.... YAY FOR THE POWER OF INTROVERTS! We're underestimated sooooo much, but not speaking our minds doesn't mean we're not thinking!

I have an ear infection and it's really annoying me right now. Yeah, this has nothing to do with WEB orientation and my flashy bright pink WEB Leader shirt which I'm wearing right now. (No, don't make me post a selfie. Don't even think about how awful I look in pink. And because I said that, you're probably picturing how weird I look now... whatever.)

And because I'm off topic, I'll just leave and spare you from reading any more of my awful writing.

WEB training

Day 1: We got our group assignments. I'm with Aishwarya and Leo and I don't know them that well. Neha (pixie friend) is in my group =D but too bad I don't have Aishaniiiii...........
It felt a lot like I was a pixie again. I'm supposed to be "energetic" and extroverted but it doesn't come naturally to me. YAY INTROVERTS XD
Isa and I biked there and back together and we went past Aishani's house and screamed her name. XD

Day 2: I called a lot of pixies (like 4) on the phone and it was so awkward...
We got our neon pink shirts! I look weird in mine unless I wear my neon pink hairband with it. And we practiced leading the sixth graders through activities and the campus tour thing. We signed up for jobs during orientation and it was very violent because people were fighting for one particular job ;)

my amazing schedule.

Looks like an overdue library book doesn't matter...

0 period: Geometry, Orcutt
1st period: first sem. TA, Yen / second sem. Comm Arts, Cypert
2nd period: PE (first sem Hong, second sem Davies)
3rd period: Science, Bandyopadhyay

Apparently I have all the good teachers.

what is this

Still don't have my schedule :(
I'm worried I got held back or something... even though I had awesome grades, I had an overdue library book and I heard someone say you can get held back for something like that.
OK, stop it, CALM DOWN, MEERA!!! Sigh. Do you have any idea how easily you freak out? Geez. Relax. It's only your schedule... (yay for talking to myself)
Seriously, though, I'm getting too freaked out about this whole thing. Everyone already got their schedules and I'm still waiting for mine D:

i want a title for this story

The strange man points at Myra as he bellows, “Class, this is the new Dianna.” A thin, makeup-covered girl standing to her left whispers, “So you’re Di’s replacement, right? The new alto? I hope you’re as good as she is. You certainly look uglier than her..”
Myra isn’t sure what to say. She knows that with her pale skin, messy hair, and freckles, she’s nothing like the fake and skinny popular girls in her new school. What disappoints her the most though, is the fact that her choir director doesn’t even know her name, let alone give her a proper introduction to the class.
The girl on her right, however, is also freckled and plain with a more muscular build than everyone else around her. Summoning up all her courage, Myra asks her, “W-who’s Dianna?”
The girl doesn’t hesitate to reply. “Her full name’s Dianna Pristine Sweetwater. I know, fancy. She was the most annoying person to stand next to, and her singing was just horrible. But our director adored her, until she moved away last week. He acted like it was the end of the world or something. Anyways, I’m Ashley. The girl on the other side of you is Nicoletta and she’s a bully. Just like most of the kids in this school. Who’re you?”
Feeling a bit more comfortable, Myra says her name softly and with her trademark stutter. Just then, the director yells, “Dianna! Sing a high E-flat!” Myra’s not sure what to do, until Ashley whispers to her, “Did I mention that Dianna has perfect pitch? Luckily, so do I.” Ashley whispers the note in Myra’s ear so she can sing it in her ghost of a voice. She didn’t even sign up for choir; her mom thought it would make her more outgoing.
“Louder! I can’t hear you!” shouts that masculine voice that Myra hates so much. She tries her hardest to sing loudly, and the note comes out audibly. The whole class launches into song and she tries her hardest to sight-read the notes on the paper before her. Most of the notes come out as squeaks or whispers, though. “Dianna! Sing your part alone! Everyone wants to hear your perfect voice!”
Knowing that she doesn’t have anything near a perfect voice, Myra stretches her vocal chords and tries to get an acceptable note out. Her voice is soft and a little too low-pitched for what she’s singing. “I c-can’t do this,” she whispers to Ashley after she’s done singing and the whole class erupts with laughter.
After enduring a long lecture from her despicable director on why she’s a bad singer, Myra is elated when class is dismissed. She and Ashley both have a free period next, so they stay in the library and read books. As she enjoys her hour of peace, Myra already starts worrying about the next day’s choir class. She can tell that Ashley feels the same way.
Every day goes like this for Myra, until she graduates the eleventh grade. As much as she loathes it, her mom signs her up for choir the next year. After spending her carefree summer days camping in the mountains with Ashley’s family, she’s forgotten completely about choir.
Eventually the first day of school arrives. Myra looks at her schedule and sees “Choir” written on it in big, bold, imposing letters. When that horrible class rolls around, she and Ashley, whose parents signed her up as well, enter the room together. Although Ashley’s voice sounds as amazing as always, Myra’s is still a shadow’s ghost. She tries her hardest to live up to her director’s expectations, but always fails, still angry that he hasn’t learned her name yet. He calls her Dianna even when taking attendance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five years have passed since Myra Collins first walked into Greg Peterson’s choir classroom. Greg and his wife are spending the evening at the opera and enjoying every minute of it.
“Greg, look! The very tall alto over there has an amazing voice. Don’t you wish you had a girl like that in your choir class?” asks his wife. Greg watches the singer as she moves across the stage. Pale skin, messy hair, freckles... this definitely rings a bell. “The new Dianna... it can’t be!” he whispers to himself.
When the show’s over, Greg marches up to the opera’s manager. “What’s the name of that tall alto? The one with the lead role? I think she might have been in my choir class a while ago.”
“Myra Collins,” the manager replies. He knows that Greg Peterson teaches at the local high school. “Do you want to talk to her?” Greg replies that it would be nice, thank you very much. A few minutes later, he’s staring directly into the smoky eyes of the girl he treated so badly.
“Your name’s Myra? I never knew that. Sorry about choir class five years ago,” he tells her. “It’s o-okay,” replies Myra in her soft voice. She still stammers, Greg notices. “Did Dianna perform today?” he asks her. “S-she tried out. Didn’t make the f-first cut.” Her voice is louder than it was five years ago. “Ashley sang, t-though. She’s the g-girl I was next to. My b-best friend.”
Myra’s former director is shocked out of his mind. Who would have guessed that the girl he screamed at so much, the girl with a stammer and a small voice, the girl who’s name he hadn’t even remembered, would become an opera star? He sure wouldn’t have. Maybe his high expectations of her did something to transform her this much...
Smiling to himself, Greg Peterson walks out of the opera hall.
sick :(
I've been having headaches and a really bad cough for a while. Seriously, I was coughing the whole night and driving my entire family crazy! (Sorry...) And I can't really breathe because my nose is completely clogged and my throat hurts like crazy. Swimming helps with that part, though, but I was all disoriented yesterday in practice. When I was swimming backstroke, I "cuddled" with the laneline and went under it into the next lane. Awkward. All I can hope is that I get better in time for school...
Basically, I'm not feeling well so I won't come online as often. I might schedule a bunch of random stories when I can, but not right now. I don't have enough time.
So... um... what did I do since the last time I posted? Not much, actually. I played with my unicorn/friend and wrote random stuff which I don't want to put here.
I don't have anything else to say, and as much as I hate these awkward endings, bye!
a random poem thingie
*Sorry I couldn't post for a long time... my six-year-old best friend (who's also my pet unicorn) was at my house and we had so much fun I forgot to come online! I wrote this yesterday because I was bored...*
You stand there
Waiting.
Eyes hidden behind
Purple lenses of goggles.
Frizzy hair trapped under a
Swim cap about to fly off.
You're nervous. Don't be.
Just finish this race.
It's only fifty meters.
How hard
Can
It
Be?
You dive in,
cold water stings
your feet.
But you don't feel it
You're too busy kicking
Like your life depends on it,
Your arms circling,
Pulling back the water
And making you go forward.
You don't breathe
At all.
Reach the wall, flip turn
Push off
And keep going
You're tired. Breathe.
Or at least try.
Don't slow down.
Faster.
Don't think of
Anything else except
Reaching
That
Wall,
Finishing the race.
You're done.
The longest thirty seconds
Of your life
Are over.
You try to get out of the pool
But your arms are
Drained of energy
And your legs wobble
Like you've forgotten
How to walk.
But you don't care.
You're done.
Your first-ever
Swim meet
Is over.
And you can't wait
For next time,
To swim those fifty meters
Over again.
constructive criticism?
I'm really bad at playing this song (I just learned it myself). I'm pretty sure I screwed up somewhere, but whatever...
at least I actually tried vibrato :D but it got screwed up by my sucky microphone thingamabob. D:
By the way...
LOL i have a pervy mind XD
last day of the debate thing
I'm actually a sucky debater. I found that out today. The person I was against had way better arguments than me and I actually couldn't think of anything to say in my last rebuttal. I'm not gonna try out for debate in school... I won't even have a chance!
When I wasn't debating, my friends and I watched even more Doctor Who. Because we felt like it. They got me addicted to that show!
And then I got home and made a bad recording of this song on flute. It's really squeaky and I'd post it here but i don't know how to....
My sister is watching me write this post that no one will read and she's also listening to the flute thing and apparently it sounds like a trumpet that can do vibrato... except my vibrato fails! Yay for failing vibrato!
Did blogger just say "yay" isn't a legit word? They're just not awesome. I'm sorry, Blogger. I didn't mean to offend you. I quite like you, in fact. Lalala. I'm bored.
I'm gonna watch random creepy videos! kk bye
Thursday, August 1, 2013
this post is amazing
I was gonna make a video (of stuff) and upload it... but I don't have the time!
Swimming is getting less and less torturous! Yay!!
Um... what else should I write? I have to do a debate tournament thingie for camp. As I mentioned before, I'll fail it really bad. I did a practice round and I didn't fail too much (the other person could actually hear me!) so my hopes are a little higher...
Remember the three girls I mentioned earlier? The ones who went to the same school and were BFFs for a long time? They're finally open to other people (or at least me)! We act weird during breaks and stuff and watch Doctor Who on one of their computers. I actually quite like that show =D
I have to go now... I'll write more later.
hey
Sorry I couldn't post yesterday, I was too busy staying up really late and writing!! I got to 15000 WORDS!!!!!!!!! My story is officially done. It'll be up on this blog by tomorrow, on a separate page at the top.
My parents are making me go to debate camp. It started on Monday. I don't know anyone there, but I have exactly three "friends" who sit next to me. We eat lunch together and never talk. Yay for awkward silences!
There's this really annoying guy who used to be in front of me and he kept distracting us when we were trying to work on stuff. His sister's one of our teacher/counselors, so I think that's why. If my little sis was in a camp I was teaching, she'd be very distracting and always expecting me to give her hugs =P
There are these other three girls who've known each other forever and they're always in their own little group. They're really funny and nice though, and I wish they'd be more open to the rest of us.
And then there are the rest of the guys... they're mostly distracting weirdos like the one sitting in front of me. I get distracted easily.
I don't really think I'll be a good debater because I change my mind WAY too often and easily. And I have a really soft voice, so people don't normally hear what I say. I'm also a terrible note-taker and can't keep anything organized at all. I seriously regret allowing my parents to make me come here... at least I have my friends!
first bit of my book
Because I said I'd post some of it. I didn't edit yet, though...
I sit at the creek's edge, holding a notebook and pencil. It's a very pretty day outside, which means that my landscape sketches will look amazing. I've had this secret passion for art ever since I could first hold a pencil, and my skills have been improving ever since.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spy something moving in the bushes. It’s too big to be a small deer or rabbit. No, it’s most likely a fellow human being. A human girl, as I see when she steps out of the woods. This strikes me as strange, because I’ve never seen another person here in the few months since I’d discovered this place. It’s a little weird that this untouched forest is only a mile from the suburbs, where I live.
The strange girl walks towards me. She looks to be about ten years old, with messy brownish hair and eerily piercing blue eyes. She’s dressed in brown and green, which makes her look a bit like a walking tree with a head. She notices me watching her and steps up toward me.
Looking me straight in the eye, the strange girl says, “Follow me. I have something to show you. Please.” I have a reputation for hardly trusting anyone, including adorable little girls. But there’s something about this kid, about the pleading tone in her voice and those enormous eyes, that makes her seem different...I let her lead me through the bushes and trees. We’re walking off all the marked trails, something I’d never even dreamed of doing before. Does this girl have any idea how dangerous the forest is, even in daylight?
As we walk, she asks me, “What’s your name?”
“Jenny,” I reply. I’ve just broken the record for the number of words I’ve voluntarily said to a complete stranger.
“And your other name? The one everyone in your family shares?”
She must mean my last name. I’ve never given out my first and last names to someone whose name I don’t even know, but I reply anyway. “Desmond.” At least she doesn’t know my middle name...
When we stop walking, my legs are sore and my feet feel like they’re falling off. We’ve stopped in front of a door that appears to be carved in a tree trunk. It’s very elaborate, but it’s just a carving. There’s nothing that could possibly be behind it, right?
She completely proves me wrong by raising one of her little hands and placing it on the carving.
Weird pink sparkles float around in the air, like they might in a fantasy movie, and the door swings outwards. It’s enough to creep me out.
We walk into the tree trunk. It’s bigger on the inside than it is outside, and there’s room for a whole house in there. We’re standing in a room with a table and two chairs. A boy, about my age of fifteen, is sitting in one of them. When he sees us, a grin spreads across his freckled face.
“Hyacinth! You’ve brought another human friend of yours! What’s she called?” The little girl, who’s obviously named Hyacinth, quietly says “Jenny Desmond.”  As I’m thinking about what an interesting name Hyacinth is, the boy turns to me and says, “She’s my little sister, and she chose her own name. So did I, but my choice is way plainer. I’m Jason.”
Out of politeness, I say, “It’s a nice name, really.” Jason smiles again. “Thanks.” I want to ask him why he implied that he and Hyacinth aren’t exactly human, but before the words can escape my mouth, Jason has an answer.
“You want to know our story, do you? Sit down and I’ll tell you.” He motions at the empty chair next to him. I take a seat, and accidentally drop my sketchbook. It falls open to one of my best sketches, a realistic picture of a squirrel with an acorn. Jason picks up the book, looks at the picture for the longest few seconds ever, and says, “Wow. I really wish I could draw.” He gives the book back to me I’m, surprisingly, more than eager to teach him to draw, but I don’t say this.
songs i was listening to
People think I have weird tastes in music... and I probably do.
story of my life. right here.
these lyrics seriously make sense.
this is my sis's favorite song. i used to sing it to her when she had really severe nightmares.
I'm too lazy to keep on putting videos in this post, and I have to get at least 2000 more words done today for my book, so this is all I'll write on this blog today.
random poem/song dedicated to people i won't mention here
(you'll know if you're one of the people i wrote this to... so don't ask me who they are)
If only you had understood
Back when I'd believed in you.
If only you could see yourself
Walking in my shoes.
You couldn't tell I needed someone
To tell my secrets to.
I'd thought that I might like to have
A friend just like you
But then I discovered that
You have a second side too.
You listened to my secrets
Then told the outside world
What wasn't meant for their ears.
What only you should've heard.
You heard them using this against me
And you didn't say a single word.
How could I have trusted you
If I knew it'd end like this?
As I'm thinking about the past
I have only one wish:
To erase you from my life,
You're the one that I won't miss.
If only I could turn back time
To when our friendship didn't exist.
I could've found someone else,
And lived my life in bliss.
this is what i do when i'm bored
My sis went to this summer camp place and she brought me some lanyard string. This is what happened. BTW, I didn't choose those colors myself... and sorry for the really bad quality of the pic...
I made all of them the circle/twisty type because I felt like it. =D
The longest one is the worst, especially near the top. I just wanted to finish it as soon as possible.
I did the second one in hot pink and transparent lanyard string, but it doesn't look like it.
The third/really short one is probably the best... it's the only one I never screwed up on XD
dear (probably nonexistent) reader...
Who are you?
What do you look like?
What do you act like?
Can you even describe yourself?
Are you human?
How did you find this really demented blog?
Do you know me in real life?
Do you hate me with the passion of a thousand suns?
Do you actually think I'm not that bad?
Or do you merely tolerate my presence?
Do you have a blog too?
Do people read it?
What do you write?
Have you ever had writer's block?
Why are you reading my blog?
Do you think I'm normal?
Do you actually like my slightly strange ideas?
Or do you come here only to make fun of them?
Has anyone ever genuinely hated you, just for being who you are? (If yes, stay strong <3)
Would you trust anyone with your life?
Do people think everyone likes you?
Is that actually true?
Have you ever wished for something impossible, just to see if it would come true?
Have you ever gone skydiving? (If you have, how was it?)
Have you ever stayed up all night counting stars?
What's the weirdest dream you've had?
Do you dream in color?
Have you ever narrowly escaped death?
Are you scared of dying?
Have you ever thought about running away from everyone and everything you know?
Have you ever hated the whole world, just for existing?
Do you even exist?
I couldn't think of a better idea... stupid writer's block D=
writing a book
Yeah. That's exactly what I'm attempting to do. My writing isn't as good as it could be, though, and I'm focusing too much on how many words I have (as of now, just over 5000) instead of how good my work is.
This writing thing is slowly taking over my life. Whenever I'm bored, I just go to my room, blast music through my headphones, and write a few chapters. I have to beg my parents for permission to work on my book. If I can't get more than 600 words in a day, I end up hating myself and going on a crazy writing spree the next day. I've never been this... passionate about anything before. It's a little weird.
I'm starting to think my characters are real people, too. I named a character Isa, after the name that Anchal goes by. (I had permission.) The Isa in my book is cursed to be trapped in the body of a cat, so whenever I see Anchal, or even email her, I have to resist the urge to say, "Why aren't you a cat? I thought you were still cursed." If I actually said something like this, it would lead to a very awkward conversation.
When I first started this, last week, I thought it would be just a nice, innocent little summer project. The kind of thing that wouldn't invade my thoughts, that I wouldn't really care too much about. I guess I'm wrong. After I finish all 15000 words of this book, I'll stick to short stories...
i'm finally posting! :O
I got really bored (summer vacation is too long/boring!!) and said, "Why not make a blog post?" So I did.
Remember my pet rat, Coco? She passed away about a month ago. I miss her terribly, and still like rats. I always will. RIP Coco <3
I'm officially a graduate of Tamil school! I'm coming back next year as my aunt's teacher aide :) I'll never have to see a certain evil teacher again! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I came back from CTY at Skidmore last week! (if you don't know what CTY is, look it up ^_^) It was REALLY awesome even though I was late to classes every day so my teacher didn't exactly like me.
My roommate, Gracie, didn't really know me all that well because I spent all my time in other people's rooms in different buildings. She was the type who would be popular, whose shelves were filled with makeup bottles and who barely brought any books. (I was known for reading, words or music, all the time. People called me Meera the Reading Addict and would always try to steal my books. But I wouldn't let them.)
Most of the kids at CTY seemed that type, and they were walking around in their absurdly short shorts and flirting with every boy they met, which is not what I expected from "nerd camp." (Well, you sure can't judge a book by its cover...)
I felt really awkward around everyone... until I met Leechen/Marina, a.k.a Boat Dock or the girl who gave me the idea for this title, and her friends: Cindy (she kept using Marina's favorite piano during practice time), Tulasi (who always borrowed my black skirt), Megha (who read really weird fanfiction to us when we were bored), and Emily and Julia (sisters. Even though I used to think Julia and Cindy were related xD).
I became Marina's swim teacher (butterfly is annoying) and page turner (when she did piano practice), and everyone in her class (including the guys!) thought of me as their "adorable little sister" because I was at least a whole year younger than all of them. It was quite awkward, especially because I was taller than most of them.
Marina kept trying to "attack" this other flute player called Rachel. Don't ask why, there was some random misunderstanding. Once I got lost and ended up in Rachel's room. She almost made me learn Flight of the Bumblebee with her, just because I had my flute with me. (it was in my bag of stuff, which I never left my room without.) We ended up forgetting about playing it and working on other songs (squeakyfastnocturnething!) Music nerd buddies! =D
And someone made me wear a dress on the last day >.< but it had pockets! Yay! If I ever have to wear a dress again, I'll make sure it has pockets so I can put random things in them. I'm a huge sucker for pockets... I don't know why.
My sis never stops bugging me about WEB assignments. She really wants to NOT be in Anchal's group... I can't blame her. If Anchal was my sis's WEB leader, there would be a small explosion. Scratch that, a ginormous explosion. Yeah, ginormous is a real word. Look it up if you don't believe me.
What else should I say... I failed at a swim meet two days ago!  But I did pretty well for someone who's never done a meet before. Wearing a cap felt really weird.
I'm writing a book! I only have just over 4000 words in a week. At this rate I'm never gonna finish. Ever. So I have to stop writing this really lame blog post and get back to work on my book. Don't worry, I'll post later... xD
